Valve has officially released Steam Game Recording, a new built-in feature that allows players to capture and share gameplay footage across PC, Mac, and Steam Deck devices. The feature recently exited beta testing and is now available through the Steam client.

Valve continues to push forward with gaming experiences on Steam, with the Game Recording feature now out of beta and available for everyone.

We are not hurting for ways to record PC games, but Valve is offering another one anyway. After releasing Game Recording as a beta in Steam earlier this year, the feature has now been rolled out to all users. All you have to do is flip a toggle, and you're ready to record. It's available now on PC, Mac, and the Steam Deck.

Steam Game Recording entered beta testing this summer but is now available to everyone in the updated Steam client for Windows PCs and Macs (which no longer runs on Windows 7, Windows 8, macOS High Sierra 10.13, and macOS Mojave 10.14).

No longer should you need external software just to record a fun clip of gameplay on Steam desktop and Steam Deck, with Steam Game Recording now officially live for everyone.

Valve says it works with any game, including non-Steam games that allow Steam Overlay to run. Recording is off by default — you’ll find its settings in a new Game Recording tab in Steam’s settings.
