When fresh frozen plasma is first thawed, certain clotting factors (mainly fibrinogen, factor VIII, factor XIII, and von Willebrand factor) form solid clumps at the bottom of the liquid plasma.

Replenishing clotting factors: FFP contains clotting factors such as fibrinogen, factors II, V, VII, IX, and X, as well as von Willebrand factor, which are crucial for proper blood coagulation.

FFP contains all of the clotting factors, fibrinogen (400 to 900 mg/unit), plasma proteins (particularly albumin), electrolytes, physiological anticoagulants (protein C, protein S, antithrombin, tissue factor pathway inhibitor) and added anticoagulants [ 1, 2 ].
