  1. Dermatomes are areas of skin that are mainly supplied by a single spinal nerve. The location of the dermatomes are1:
    • T1 to T2: Pinky side of your upper forearm and upper arm, and the chest and back area just above your armpits.
    • T2 to T3: Pinky side of your upper arm, as well as your upper chest and upper back (just above the level of your armpits and shoulder blades).
    Several anatomic landmarks help easily identify or estimate different dermatomal levels2:
    1. C6 – Thumb
    2. C7 – Middle finger
    3. C8 – Little finger
    4. T1 – Anteromedial forearm and arm
    5. T2 – Medial forearm and arm to the axilla
    6. T4 – Nipple
    7. T6 – Xyphoid process
    8. T10 – Umbilicus
