  2. Normal angles for a big toe x-ray are12:
    • 10 - 25 degrees for the 1st intermetatarsal angle (angle between 1st MT and 2ndMT)
    • < 10 degrees for the distal metatarsal articular angle (DMAA) (angle between 1st MT shaft and line through base of articular cap)
    • ≤15° for the first metatarsophalangeal angle on an AP weight-bearing foot radiograph. Anything greater indicates hallux valgus where the head of the first metatarsal is deviated medially.
    • <9° for the intermetatarsal angle on a weight-bearing foot radiograph.
