    Low clouds occur below 6500 feet, and normally consist of liquid water droplets or even supercooled droplets, except during cold winter storms when ice crystals (and snow) comprise much of the clouds.
    Generally, as the tropopause's height decreases, the elevations at which clouds occur also decreases. The exception is low clouds which typically have cloud bases within the first 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) of the surface.
